Good News Story – Lily
Despite discussing in her interview her barriers, struggles and dislike of maths which led to her avoiding from these lessons in school, Lily now enjoys her maths sessions for the first time in her educational journey. She shared that she understands what she is learning and sees how it can be used in day to day life. Lily feels that she has a good relationship with her tutor and this has made her feel comfortable. She asks questions if she is unsure which has helped her overcome the difficulty. Lily has not previously experienced this with maths before starting at MVC-Corby.
Good News Story – Miya
Miya has been working at Dominos for a few months now. Showing her own initiative has led to her being moved into a different department, as the company was very impressed and have offered her training at a higher level. This is a huge personal achievement and something that Miya feels she wouldn’t have been able to do without staff at Morthyng building her confidence and encouraging her.
Good News Story – McKenzie
McKenzie, who never really enjoyed education at school as he never understood it, has completed 2 years with us and has just been accepted onto a Level 2 Bricklaying Course in September (another 2 year course). He wants to keep learning now and is excited for the future!
Good News Story – MacKenzie
MacKenzie has been on site with Tilsbury Douglas overcoming his anxieties and fears around new settings and people. He has been able to make the decision that this is definitely a career area he wants to continue to pursue.
Good News Story – Ellie
Ellie has gained the confidence needed to apply for jobs. She has been successful in gaining full time paid employment with FPS, which is a packing warehouse. She will be leaving us with her Maths and English qualifications and starts her working adventure on Monday 25th March.
Good News Story – Kenzie
Kenzie has independently secured a work trial that resulted in a placement to support himself to build key employability skills including enhancing his social skills. Feedback from the placement manager was that Kenzie had shown great motivation, ‘getting stuck in’ and giving all tasks a go with no complaints. They were that impressed Kenzie was offered part time paid employment in the role of a housekeeper at the hotel. (He has declined this as Mum says he does to feel ready but that fact it was offered speaks volumes for his success in the placement.)
China Town Trip for Lunar New Year
Some of our Warrington learners took a trip to Liverpool’s China Town for Lunar New Year. For many of our learners, they had never been on a train, let alone out of the area that they live.
The trip was organised by the team at Warrington, Paul, Jenny, Debbie, Molly and Sarah. James and Jo organised the Birkenhead leg.
